Some of the best dreams begin as the smallest whispers. A longing. A nudge. A quiet idea that won’t let go. Rest & Play started as one of those whispers—an idea that took root in my heart long before I had the words to describe it.
Like so many women, I’ve spent years balancing responsibilities, pouring into my family, and carrying the weight of everyday life. And while I wouldn’t trade those roles for anything, I also found myself craving something I couldn’t quite name. A place to slow down. A space to be poured into instead of always pouring out. A moment to just be—without expectations, without pressure, without the constant push to produce, achieve, and keep up.
The crazy thing was that it wasn’t just me. I saw it in the women around me too. We were all running on empty, moving from one thing to the next without taking time to refuel and rest. And so, the idea of Rest & Play was born—not as a business plan or a perfectly laid-out strategy, but as an answer to a deep need for rest, renewal, and joy.
Rest & Play isn’t just an event or a retreat. It’s a space—one that was created with deep intention and an open heart. From the very beginning, I knew I didn’t want this to be another overwhelming, jam-packed experience that left women feeling like they needed a vacation after their vacation. I wanted it to be the opposite—a space that welcomed women as they are, invited them to breathe, and encouraged them to reconnect with themselves and each other in the most natural way possible.
Think of it like gathering around a cozy table with old friends, where laughter comes easily, conversations flow freely, and you can show up exactly as you are—messy bun, those favorite sweats that you probably should’ve thrown out a year ago, no makeup – just you. That’s what I wanted Rest & Play to be: a place where you’re seen, a place where you can exhale, a place where your value is in who you are, not what you offer.
Rest isn’t just about taking time off or getting more sleep (though let’s be honest, that’s important too!). Real rest is something deeper. It’s about stepping away from the chaos and noise long enough to hear your own thoughts again. It’s about finding a rhythm that allows you to be present in your own life rather than feeling like you’re always chasing the next thing…even if that “thing” is checking off another task on your to-do list!
At Rest & Play, we embrace rest in every form. Whether it’s sipping coffee in the morning quiet, curling up with a book in a sun-drenched corner, or taking a slow walk along the shore, rest looks different for everyone. But the heart of it remains the same—to create space for restoration, reflection, and renewal. Because when we’re well-rested, we become the best version of ourselves and we’re better able to show up for the people and things that matter most to us.
Somewhere along the way, we forget how to play. As kids, it came naturally—imaginative games, belly laughs, running barefoot just because it felt good. But as adults, play takes a backseat to productivity, and joy can start to feel like a luxury rather than a necessity.
But here’s the truth: play is essential. It’s how we shake off the weight of responsibility for a little while and allow ourselves to simply delight in the moment. It’s how we rediscover the parts of ourselves that get buried under to-do lists and obligations.
Don’t think for a minute that Rest & Play is all naps and lounging, we definitely make room for fun! We explore local shops, we try some delicious foods, and we make space for spontaneous adventures. Whether it’s gathering around a table at an open-air bar, going on a sunset walk, spending a few hours dreaming about what’s ahead and creating a plan to get there, or just having unhurried conversations with new friends, play is a thread woven into the fabric of this space. Because joy isn’t something we have to earn—it’s something we’re meant to embrace!
Through every season of Rest & Play – from the dream of what could be to hosting our 5th retreat this January, my faith has been a foundational piece of this journey. I believe we were created not just to do, but to be. Not just to strive, but to rest. Not just to work, but to play. And when we make space for these things, we step into the rhythm God designed for us—a rhythm of grace, rest, joy, and deep connection.
Rest & Play isn’t just about taking time off; it’s about trusting that God meets us in those quiet moments. It’s about believing that we don’t have to earn rest or joy, but that they are gifts freely given to us. It’s about leaning into the truth that slowing down isn’t falling behind—it’s exactly where we’re meant to be!
In each step of this adventure, God has continued to provide and guide beyond anything I could have ever dreamed! When I say that He has shown Himself over and over again, it feels like such an understatement. I will forever be amazed at what the Lord will do when we’re willing to follow those gentle nudges and crazy ideas.
If you’ve ever felt weary, if you’ve ever longed for space to rest, if you’ve ever wished for deeper connections and more joy-filled moments—this space is for you. Rest & Play was created for women like you, who are ready to step out of the busyness and into something richer, deeper, and more life-giving.
You don’t have to have it all figured out. You don’t have to deserve it or earn it. You are already invited.
I can’t wait for you to experience the heart of Rest & Play. Whether it’s through a retreat, an online connection, or simply through the encouragement shared here, I hope this space feels like a warm invitation—a place where you can breathe, dream, and be refreshed.
So, come as you are.
Rest a while.
Play a little.
And know that you are so incredibly welcome here.
